Landing in Jakarta: my first-night playbook
You never get the first night back. Land at midnight, and the difference between a great trip and a forgettable one is whether you eat something honest before you sleep.
My order of operations hasn't changed in years: drop the bags, resist the hotel club sandwich, and go straight to Isenk. A clear broth, some ginger, nothing heavy. Then, if I have a real evening the next day, I book August weeks ahead and let the counter do the talking.
That's the whole playbook. Light and open on arrival; considered and quiet once you've slept.
